Memories within my environment
| The post it notes on my wall (Bible passages) |
| My youngest sister in her bed reading a book |
| The view from my bedroom window (street light) |
| My view of my room when the lights are off |
| My front door- key hole and door bell |
| My messy desk |
| My broken radiator |
I chose the image of my
staircase to redraw onto an A1 sheet because I have mixed memories attached to
it. Such as the numerous times my siblings and I have fallen down the stairs.
On such occasions obviously I feel a lot a pain but I have to laugh at the same
time. I feel like these memories are of a lot of importance because I’ve learnt
a lot of life lessons from them. I know how to laugh at myself in any situation.
I also tend to use my stairs as a place of reflection as I am able to sit and
think. (usually peacefully)

Whilst drawing on a bigger scale I realised that there are a lot of features I have never noticed which is interesting considering I walk up and down these stairs daily. I like the final drawn image however I also noticed that due to not spending a lot of time in considering what is included in the frame I have a lot of negative space.
I initially cropped and reworked the images with sheets of paper to conceal the negative space however, as I progressed I began considering how meaning and interpretation can change depending on what I choose to reveal/hide. I considered the most important aspect of the image to be the stairs themselves- the steps to be specific therefore I focused on exploring how much I could change. I felt that what I ended up with was successful because although they are from the same source they could be interpreted in a completely different manner.

Original images to represent how different frames work
| Jump |
| Echo |
| Fall |
| Sad |
| Happy |
| Crush |
I found this task slightly difficult because for all of the words, whether or not you think a specific word is represented in an image is down to perspective. For example, I consider the yellow leaf on the concrete to represent sadness however another individual might consider it to be happiness. In order to get a better result, my images could be improved if instead of using different ones I stuck to one single image and added/ removed different elements to suit each word.
